Fresh Start

Just got back from boxing. Mon deux! This was my third time going, and I think it was a little easier today. But there were times where all I could do was wave my hands in the air, like I just don't care! I really do care, I just might not have looked like it.

Oh, and I have to mention that our teacher/boxer is a very tall, handsome Asian gentleman. This may be why about a quarter of the class is comprised of young Asian women. Now I'm not dissing (disrespecting) my fellow classmates. Most of them were totally keeping up with him while I, one of the tallest and biggest members of the class, was floundering like a big, beached whale.

Oh, I almost forgot to mention what a great night I had yesterday. I was invited by a distant relative (by way of a second Danish-cousin) to see a big band perform at MacArthur Park. They call themselves the Dean Mora Orchestra & they rocked! I especially loved their version of Frank Sinatra's All Or Nothing At All. Dreamy! Afterwards, I had some late-night sushi with a neighbor at our favorite sushi restaurant, Kura.

When I was living in Japan, my homestay parents had their own sushi restaurant. So, on several evenings, my mom would wake me up at about one in the morning and tell me (in Japanese), "I got sushi"! This was great, at first, but by the time I got back to the states, I was sushied-out. But after several years, I'm starting to really like it again. However, I can NEVER give up sashimi. Vegetarianism be damned!
